Arnold firefighters and police responded to a child struck by a vehicle Sunday evening in the 2000 block of Kenneth Avenue.

A 7-year-old boy was bleeding from his head after being hit by an SUV in Arnold Sunday night, fire Chief Eric Gartley said.

The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. on Kenneth Avenue between Moore and Ewing streets, according to Westmoreland County 911.

The boy was hit by an SUV. The woman driving the vehicle remained at the scene, Gartley said.

The woman, whom Gartley described as distraught, said she had not seen the boy.

The boy suffered moderate injuries, Gartley said. He was bleeding from at least his head and had other traumatic pain from the impact.

He was taken by ambulance to UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, the county dispatcher said.

Arnold police were investigating.
