Seven people, including a man who claimed to be a Pittsburgh police officer, are facing charges in connection with what Harmar police described as drunken fights at a Harmar hotel over the weekend.

Harmar police said they were called Sunday to the Days Inn about a large fight in the parking lot.

The fighting stopped briefly after responding officers flashed their emergency lights and talked with those involved, but people in the crowd “started to become belligerent again due to the fact that all parties were heavily intoxicated,” according to a criminal complaint.

As officers reviewed surveillance footage and talked with witnesses, another fight involving up to 20 people broke out, the complaint said.

Surveillance footage of the second fracas showed that a man later identified as Corey James Zapf, 24, of Glassport tried to punch another person in the face while on the second floor of the hotel and a “large scrap” ensued, the complaint said. During the fighting, a pregnant woman could be seen getting hit in the stomach by a person falling after being punched, according to the complaint.

After police broke up the second fight and detained several people, the complaint said a man identified as Shane Sullivan, 31, of Darlington, Beaver County, approached the officers and said he was a Pittsburgh police officer. The complaint said Sullivan appeared to be intoxicated, ignored orders to return to his room and tried to push past officers at the scene before attempting to jump off a second-story ledge. Police said they arrested him.

A Pittsburgh police spokesman said Tuesday there was no record of Sullivan working for the department.

A criminal complaint said police intended to file charges against seven people. As of Tuesday afternoon, online court records showed police had filed charges against five of them:

• Zapf faces charges of inciting a riot, simple assault, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

• Adam Kenneth Schroder, 23, of Port Vue was charged with simple assault, harassment, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and criminal mischief.

• Daniel Mawritz, 24, and Steven Ray Vavra, 26, both of Glassport, were charged with simple assault, harassment, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

• Sullivan was charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
