A look at the uncontested Primary races in the Fox Chapel area

A number of municipal and school board races in the Fox Chapel area are uncontested for the May 20 primary election, according to the Allegheny County Office of Elections’ unofficial candidate list.

Aspinwall

The mayoral race in Aspinwall as Democrat Scott Zimmerman and Republican incumbent Joseph Noro seeking party nods to be on the November ballot. The term is for four years.

Four Democrats seek party nods to be on the November ballot: Council President Jeff Harris, Councilwoman Lara Voytko, former councilwoman Patti McCaffrey and newcomer Andrew Corey-O’Connor.

Aspinwall Democrat Sarah Shaffer announced her withdrawal from the race on May 2.

The Republican race is uncontested, with three candidates seeking four party nods. Those candidates are Donald Mazreku, Terry Nelson Taylor and Aggie Lotz. Terms are for four years.

Blawnox

Democratic Mayor Anthony Gross seeks his party’s nomination for another four-year term.

No one is on the Republican ticket.

Three Democrats seek party nominations for four ballot spots in the November election: Council President Deborah Laskey, Vice President Randall Stoddard and incumbents Christine Carnevali and Matthew Stanczak.

Incumbent Mark Lombardi is the lone Republican seeking a party nomination for one of four ballot spots.

Council terms are for four years.

Fox Chapel

Democrat Jonathan Colton and Republican Robert Marsh seek their respective parties’ nominations.

There are three Republicans seeking party nods for four council ballot spots in the November election: President Andrew Bennett, Vice President Harrison Lauer and incumbent Bradley Harrison.

Barry Schaitkin is the only person on the Democratic ticket.

All terms are for four years.

Indiana Township

Democrat incumbent Jonathan Neumann and Republican Terrence Wirginis seek their party’s nod for township supervisor from District 5.

The term is for four years.

O’Hara

Republican Anthony Santucci is the lone candidate seeking a party nod for a 1st Ward council seat.

No one is on the Democratic ticket.

Democrat incumbent George Stewart is the lone candidate seeking a party nod for a council 2nd Ward 2 seat.

No one is on the Republican ticket.

Republican Vice President Mike Hammill is the lone candidate seeking a party nod for a 3rd Ward council seat.

No one is on the Democratic ticket.

Democrat incumbent Olivia Payne and Republican Heather Elizabeth Bell seek party nods for the open 4th Ward spot.

Council president Cassandra Ross Eccles, Democrat, and Republican Melissa Fanto seek party nods for a 5th Ward council seat.

All terms are for four years.

Sharpsburg

Democrat Mayor Kayla Portis seeks her party’s nomination.

No one is on the Republican ticket.

Four Democrats seek party nods for four, four-year ballot spots in November: Council President Adrianne Laing, Vice President Karen Pilarski-Pastor and incumbents Roman Mason and Corey Egwrube Ochai.

No one is on the Republican ticket.

Incumbent David Breingan, Democrat, seeks his party’s nomination for a two-year ballot spot.

No one is on the Republican ticket.

Fox Chapel Area School District

Incumbent Amy Cooper has cross-filed for the Democratic and Republican nods i a Region 1 seat.

Incumbent Ariel Zych has cross-filed for a Region 2 seat.

Incumbents Adam Goode and Jessica Haselkorn have cross-filed for two open seats in Region 3.

There are no other candidates. All terms are for four years.

Editor’s note: This article has been updated to include Barry Schaitkin on the Democratic ticket for the Fox Chapel council race. He is unopposed in seeking his party’s nomination.
