The vote to fill Harrison’s open commissioner seat will likely come down to one vote, that of vacancy board member George Conroy.

Commissioners on Aug. 25 deadlocked in a vote between nominees Alan Fisher of Union Avenue and Justin Johnson of Carlisle Street.

Now, the vacancy board — comprising the four township commissioners and Conroy — will meet at 5 p.m. Thursday take another vote.

The first time around, Jim Erb and Eric Bengel voted for Fisher while Jamie Nee and Gary Meanor voted for Johnson. Unless something changes, Conroy will cast the deciding vote.

The 1st Ward vacancy was created after Chuck Dizard resigned in July. The person appointed will serve through the end of the year.

Solicitor Emily Mueller said if a commissioner is not appointed at the special meeting, the matter will be decided by an Allegheny County judge.

The meeting will be in the township building, One Municipal Drive.
