Editor’s note: All charges against Mayona Harrington were withdrawn by the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office on Jan. 23 after, police say, prosecution witnesses fail to appear to testify at a hearing on the charges.

An Arnold woman accused of an attempted home invasion is in jail.

Mayona Dania Harrington, 19, was arraigned Monday before New Kensington District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr., according to court records. She was charged Friday with burglary, terroristic threats and criminal mischief.

She was denied bond and sent to the Westmoreland County Jail to await a hearing scheduled for Jan. 23.

According to a criminal complaint filed by New Kensington police, Harrington was among a group of people who tried to break into a Leishman Avenue house on Jan. 5. The alleged victim told police Harrington made threats to “shoot you up like we shot up Brian Shaw.”

Shaw was the New Kensington police officer who was shot and killed by Rahmael Holt after a traffic stop on Nov. 17, 2017.

Police identified Mayona Harrington as a relative of Lisa Harrington, who is Holt’s cousin, and was convicted of helping Holt flee New Kensington after shooting Shaw and getting rid of the gun used to kill Shaw.

Mayona Harrington did not have an attorney listed in court records.
