Authorities could find no sign of a capsized boat that was reported Saturday morning by a motorist crossing the Laneville Bridge in Freeport, an Armstrong County 911 dispatcher said.

The report came in at 9:34 a.m. The sighting was in Buffalo Creek near its confluence with the Allegheny River, the dispatcher said.

But authorities searched the area and didn’t find anything as of 10:15 a.m.

Further information wasn’t immediately available.

Saturday is the opening day of trout season, a busy day on the river, as anglers are out in force seeking their catch.
