Choices — and their infinite trajectories — are explored in Riverfront Theater Company’s fall production of “Constellations.”

The two-person show takes the audience on a spellbinding, romantic journey that follows decisions of a physicist coming to terms with a cancer diagnosis and her beekeeper husband.

Written by British playwright Nick Payne, the play runs at 8 p.m. Nov. 14-16 and 21-23 at Allegheny RiverTrail Park in Aspinwall.

There will be an ASL interpretation at the Nov. 16 and Nov. 21 performances.

Tickets cost $20 for general admission and $30 for VIP, which includes unlimited concessions.

“Constellations” aligns with the group’s 2024-25 season, which explores human nature and choices, director Caitlin Dobronz said.

For this show, the audience will follow along as the couple falls together and apart, across different timelines, and witness how different choices can alter their destiny.

Dobronz said she wanted to put the audience in an immersive space such as Allegheny RiverTrail Park, filled with “stars, auroras and an inexplicable vibration of buzzing that leaves the audience floating wherever the cast takes them next.”

The script demands a lot of its actors and technicians, Dobronz said, requiring both performers to switch between different timelines and versions of the characters throughout the two-hour show.

“I am constantly in awe of the dedication and revelation these two bring forth about the never-ending possibilities of the human condition, including my own,” Dobronz said.

Riverfront Theater Company has entertained audiences in the Pittsburgh area for more than 55 years. The group produces musicals and plays throughout the year in addition to offering a Young Artists production and special events.
