Crashes snarl morning commute on Route 28

Multiple crashes Thursday along Route 28 slowed the morning commute into Pittsburgh, according to Tribune-Review news partner WPXI-TV.

A motorcycle crashed near the Etna Bypass shortly after 6 a.m., halting inbound traffic, WPXI-TV reported.

State police in Kittanning said one person was injured in that crash and taken to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Oakland. They didn’t know the extent of the persons injuries. The only vehicle involved in that crash was the motorcycle, police said. It was cleared shortly before 6:45 a.m.

Another crash was reported at the 40th Street Bridge shortly after 5:30 a.m., WPXI-TV said.

PennDOT spokesman Steve Cowan said that crash involved multiple vehicles. It occurred at the 40th Street Bridge on-ramp to southbound Route 28. It was cleared shortly before 6:45 a.m.
