Trail Mix 2018 featured a train ride for kids. When Trail Mix 2023 gets underway on May 18 in O’Hara Community Park, the train once again will roll. This year’s Trail Mix is sponsored by The Fox Chapel District Association and the Pittsburgh North Optimist Foundation.

It’s a mix of things, of course.

Train rides and tattoos and even rubber ducks.

The Fox Chapel District Association and the Pittsburgh North Optimist Foundation are hosting a family-friendly Trail Mix party May 18 from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at O’Hara Community Park.

People can enjoy music, food and even make their own trail mix.

The District Association is community-sponsored non-profit that supports Fox Chapel, Aspinwall, O’Hara, Sharpsburg, Blawnox, Indiana, and Harmar. It spearheads projects to enhance and beautify the community.

The Optimist Club is running the Ducky Derby at Sycamore Run creek within the park. The first heat at 6:15 p.m., with heats to follow every five minutes. The cost per duck is $10 or $50 for six ducks. Prizes are awarded to the two top finishers in each race.

The derby is one of the club’s two annual fundraisers along with its Toy Drive Party. The Pittsburgh North Optimist Club gives away between $10,000 and $20,000 annually to local youth related organizations in the Pittsburgh area.

Trail Mix is free to all District Association members, $10 for non-member individuals; $20 for non-member families. Non-members can join The District Association that evening.
