A look at the services offered and prices at The Lash Room.

In her 14 years of being a licensed cosmetologist, Megan Keener never imagined she would open her own business.

That was until an opportunity presented itself when the owner of SEK Accounting, where Keener gets her taxes done, told her a space was available in the building where the business operates.

Without a second thought, the Fawn resident took over the space to open her lash business. The Lash Room, near the Natrona Heights VFW, at 5237 Veterans Drive in Harrison, came to fruition in mid-December.

“I’d be lying if I didn’t say I was nervous opening a business during a pandemic,” said Keener, 33.

She worked exclusively on lashes for another company for three years before pursuing her own space.

She decided to make her new business all about lashes after having fun with the process. She enjoys seeing people feel good about themselves after they’ve had their lashes done.

The Lash Room is open Mondays and Wednesdays. Keener said she has seen three to four clients a week since she has open.

Facebook groups have been handy in promoting the business and its services. Keener said her customer base ranges from teens to people in their 70s.

Her most popular service are natural eyelashes. Other services offered at The Lash Room include lash extensions, facial waxing, brow lamination and lash and brow tinting.

A typical full set of lashes can take between 90 minutes and two hours.

“Everyone wants to feel good,” Keener said.

Booking at The Lash Room is by appointment only. Keener typically starts her day at 10 a.m. and ends around 6 or 7 p.m. While it has been a seemingly easy transition for Keener to open her own business, working by herself has been a challenge.

“It is a little stressful when it is only you doing it,” she said.

Despite the stress, her clientele have made it easy for her to adjust and adapt.

“Everyone have been encouraging since there are not too many lash artists in the area,” Keener said.

As she continues to navigate through working as a small business owner, Keener hopes to be able to enlist help to provide lash and brow services. “Expanding services and having more availability is on my mind, too,” Keener said.

“The clientele have been easy and welcoming,” Keener said. “Everyone is excited.”
