A felony charge filed against an Arnold woman accused of shooting her dog to death in June has been dropped.

Arnold police charged Susan Mullenax, 49, of Alcoa Drive on June 11 with a felony count of aggravated cruelty to animals.

She was detained for a day in the Westmoreland County jail until a bondsman posted a $25,000 bail on her behalf, according to court records.

At her preliminary hearing Thursday before District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr., the charge was withdrawn, court records show.

Police arrested Mullenax after a friend told them she killed the dog, according to a criminal complaint.

Officers said they found the dog inside a trash bag in the garage with a gunshot wound to the shoulder and neck.
