A 69-year-old woman was killed after fire swept through her Armstrong County home on Sunday, authorities said.

Beverly Rummel, 69, of Dayton was pronounced dead at the scene, Coroner Brian Myers said.

Emergency crews responded mid-morning to Rummel’s home along Rabbit Hollow Road and found her inside the residence.

“The residence caught fire and (Rummel) was not able to get out,” Myers said in a release.

Rummel was found inside the side door by fire crews. The coroner’s office was dispatched at about 10:20 a.m.

State police said Rummel died from suspected smoke inhalation. There were no suspicious circumstances and no foul play was suspected, police said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the state police fire marshal’s office.
