Summer hasn’t officially begun, but members of Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church already have autumn on their minds.
Preparation for the 2025 Harvest Fair is underway, with donations being accepted three days a week. People are encouraged to rummage through their gently used household goods, linens, glassware, decorations and tools to donate to the cause.
“The Harvest Fair has always been a beautiful example of what our community can accomplish when we come together,” said the Rev. Rebecca DePoe, associate pastor. “Each donated item represents someone’s generosity and care, and it’s that collective spirit that makes the fair such a meaningful tradition year after year.”
Founded in 1954, the fair has brought in nearly $2 million to benefit food banks, women’s shelters, after-school enrichment programs and more.
Volunteer Carol Huff said the church donated $120,000 last year to support 40 local nonprofits, including Backpacks for Hunger, Youth Empowerment Program of Sharpsburg, Aspinwall Meals on Wheels, Fox Family Cares, Blessing Board, Roots of Faith and Hosanna House.
Donations are accepted from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The committee is seeking furniture, books, sporting goods, jewelry, linens, clothes and more.
Mattresses, pillows, computers and textbooks are not accepted.
The fair is scheduled Sept. 5-6 at the church, 384 Fox Chapel Road.
DePoe, who oversees the annual Harvest Fair fundraiser, said the committee is grateful for every contribution.
“Big or small, it helps us support God’s mission in our community,” DePoe said.
