State Supreme Court Justice Wecht self-quarantines family after son has presumed coronavirus

An Indiana Township man is recovering from a presumed case of the coronavirus, while officials in Fox Chapel Area School District are warning that two of the man’s siblings were at the high school Monday after being in contact with him.
Pathologist Dr. Cyril Wecht identified the man as his grandson and said he is doing well. He said his son, state Supreme Court Justice David Wecht, will quarantine his family for two weeks.
“Over the weekend, he developed a little cough — it seemed like a cold,” Wecht said. “My son very wisely contacted their primary care physician, who advised him, in light of the geographical background, to set up a test.”
Fox Chapel school officials said in a statement that two high school students have a brother who on Monday night tested positive for covid-19. The district is closed through April 12.
“One of the siblings came to retrieve belongings at Fox Chapel Area High School on Monday between approximately 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.,” according to the district website.
Officials said they are working to notify students who might have come into contact with the exposed student.
Gov. Tom Wolf on Friday ordered all K-12 schools in the state to close for at least 10 school days.
Wecht, a renowned forensic pathologist who has consulted on cases from John F. Kennedy to Laci Peterson, said he understands the need for precautions but thinks the business closures are “going too far.”
