Cleanup continues at an O’Hara stream after a fuel leak early Friday.

Fire crews were called at 6:45 a.m. to Fox Chapel Road for the odor of gas near the BP station, just outside Fox Chapel Plaza.

Blawnox and Pleasant Valley volunteer fire companies deployed booms into Sycamore Run, which snakes behind the gas station and eventually feeds into the Allegheny River.

“It’s contained to the creek,” Blawnox fire Chief Jeff Stephens said. “As far as we can tell it didn’t make it to the river.”

Stephens did not provide the source of the spill, as the investigation was ongoing, he said.

Allegheny County officials were on scene, along with those from the Department of Environmental Protection and the Environmental Protection Agency.

Calls and messages to the DEP were not immediately returned.

Fire crews wrapped up at about 12:45 p.m., Stephens said, but booms remained in the stream.
