Bubbling cauldrons, pumpkin patches and gory goblins will overtake Camp Guyasuta in O’Hara for one day only in October.

Dubbed Haunted Guyasuta, tickets are on sale now for the Halloween-themed event.

Haunted Guyasuta will be 3 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 17, with specially timed events for those who prefer more or less spookiness and scares.

The one-day fright fest takes months of planning and preparation, Camp Ranger Mike Daniher said.

“We have to recruit a lot of volunteers to set everything up but it’s worth it to watch all the kids and their families have such a great time,” he said.

The day’s activities include a hayride, climbing wall, food concessions and a bonfire. The Trading Post will be open, and a 600-foot zip line is available to visitors 11 and older.

A haunted trail will be brewing with fun and fright, depending on which times visitors walk through.

From 3 to 6 p.m., the path is designated as “no-scare” so it’s a perfect chance for youngsters to enjoy the pumpkins, scarecrows and other fall-themed décor.

From 6 to 9 p.m., zombies will emerge and ghouls creep out from behind the trees.

“Whether you’re looking for good family fun, or the fright of your life, Camp Guyasuta is the place to be this Halloween season,” Daniher said.

This is the 10th year for the event, which is wildly popular and typically draws about 600 people.

Volunteer George Shaffer said there are elements for folks of all ages to enjoy.

“Every year parents tell me how much their kids look forward to coming,” Shaffer said.

Tickets cost $10 before Oct. 3, $15 from Oct. 4-15 or $20 at the gate.
