Highlands teachers dressed as dinosaurs encourage drivers to honk in support of students
Third-grade teachers from Highlands Elementary School in Tarentum dressed in dinosaur costumes on Monday to support students who are studying at home.
The teachers — Lauralee Milberger, Rachel Chester, Jennifer Koprivnikar, Courtney Udanis and Kimberly Chalmers — displayed signs encouraging drivers to honk as a sign of appreciation of students during the covid-19 pandemic.
“They wanted to do something for our students and families — distance learning has had its challenges and they appreciate everything they have done at home,” said Highlands School District spokeswoman Jennifer Goldberg. “They also wanted to let them know they miss them.”
All Pennsylvania schools are closed for the rest of the academic year, following orders from Gov. Tom Wolf.
