First and second grade students at H.D. Berkey Elementary School in Arnold celebrated the coming end of the school year Monday with some miniature golf, but didn’t have to go far to do it.

With the help of art teacher Jennifer DiPerna and physical education teacher Gannon Warrick, second grade students designed and built a 16-hole course outside their school.

Each of the eight second grade classes was responsible for designing two holes. Drawing, painting, coloring and cutting out obstacles were some of the challenges.

Principal Brian Heidenreich said it will become a yearly event for his school.

The last day of school for New Kensington-Arnold students is Wednesday, with graduation that night.
