Harmar residents who want to get rid of old furniture or appliances can have them hauled away for free next month during the township’s annual spring trash collection.

Morrow Refuse will be traveling to different parts of the township each Friday in May to collect large items.

The township will spend $4,200 to provide the service for free to residents.

Items accepted during the pick-ups will be ranges, washing machines, dryers, hot water tanks, sofas, chairs, furniture, bed springs and mattresses.

No more than one of the following items will be picked up from each residence: refrigerators, window air conditioners, freezers, stoves or other large household appliances.

The following items must be cut into small pieces: carpets and rugs must be rolled and tied in 4-foot lengths and children’s swing sets must be taken apart and tied.

Morrow will not pick up building materials, automobile parts, tires, swimming pools, storage buildings, bathtubs, furnace parts, computer monitors or televisions.

The trucks will only go to each area once, so officials remind residents to make sure they check the schedule for when the truck will be on their street:
