Two Harrison juveniles are facing charges after, police say, they broke into a vape shop along Freeport Road and made off with more than $3,000 in merchandise.

Harrison police Chief Brian Turack said the teens face charges of burglary, criminal trespass, theft and flight to avoid apprehension.

He credited a keen-eyed resident for reporting the break-in, which happened at about 4 a.m. Feb. 8 at Smoke & Vape, 1703 Freeport Road.

“Someone witnessed something suspicious and reported it immediately,” Turack said. “We are extremely appreciative of that.”

When police responded to the shop, they found the front window shattered. Officers, assisted by Tarentum police, were able to track down the suspects who fled on foot. Police found them along Westminster Alley, which runs behind the BP gas station and McDonald’s, across from the Heights Plaza.

“They matched the description, and they were carrying bags,” Turack said.

The suspects resisted arrested, but police were able to take both into custody.

No other people were suspected to have been involved.

“We are grateful to Tarentum police and for the witness who assisted in this case,” Turack said.
