Five residents have applied to fill the vacant Harrison Commissioners position, officials said.

The board is expected to narrow the field and nominate a new member during a meeting at 6 p.m. Monday.

The open seat was created earlier this summer when longtime member Chuck Dizard resigned. There are about two and a half years left on the term.

Applicants were interviewed during the township agenda meeting on Tuesday.

“Nominations and a vote will be next week,” Manager Amy Rockwell said.

Rockwell said the appointment will run through the board reorganization in January. The seat was reported to the county elections division as vacant for the fall election, she said.

Anyone interested in running for the remainder of the term would have to do so in the November election.
