A 15-year-old boy will be charged with simple assault after an incident Nov. 10 at Highlands High School.
Harrison Police Chief Brian Turack said charges are pending.
Officers responded to a call at about 1:15 p.m. and found four boys involved in some type of incident inside the bathroom, Turack said.
“It was not an active assault when we arrived,” Turack said. “The parties were separated.”
Officers interviewed two 15-year-olds and two 16-year-olds. It was not clear if anyone sustained injuries.
Because the incident involved juveniles, Turack said he could not release details of the investigation.
Superintendent Monique Mawhinney could not immediately be reached for comment.
At the time of the apparent assault, the district called for students and staff to shelter in place until the end of the school day. A statement released to parents late in the day said the move was “to ensure that we were able to promptly respond to and investigate a student situation.”
School officials said “throughout the shelter-in-place, all members of the student body and staff were safe and accounted for.
“Please know that if there is ever a situation where student safety or well-being are in question or of concern, immediate communication would be made via one-call and email.
“This was not a situation of that nature.”
Turack said the investigation is ongoing.
