Hulton Road in Penn Hills has been closed to traffic since July as crews work to repair the road that was damaged by a landslide.

A section of Hulton Road along the border of Plum and Penn Hills that had been closed since July reopened Monday, PennDOT spokeswoman Yasmeen Manyisha said.

Hulton Road had been closed for slide repair between Iowa Street and Michael Drive since July 1.

A landslide in that area occurred in February 2018. Before it was closed for repair, Hulton Road had been reduced to a single alternating lane controlled by a temporary traffic signal.

The road was initially expected to be reopened around late November or December, but that was delayed after another landslide happened about 1,000 feet from the original slide.

Charles J. Merlo of Mineral Point, Pa., was the contractor on the project.

This story’s headline was corrected to show it was months of work instead of years.
