Travelers on Menk Road in Upper Burrell could get some relief this year, but the extent of that is still being discussed.
Township Engineer Michael Moore is preparing bid documents for a pavement overlay and repair project on Menk Road, at the direction of Upper Burrell supervisors.
“It’s bad there,” said Supervisors Chairman Ross G. Walker III. “We had resident complaints.”
Those comments spurred the township to try to fix the road there, Walker said.
Moore said he anticipates the paving bid being advertised within two months. The road length of the project hasn’t yet been determined, so there isn’t currently a cost estimate for the project, he said. It might also include some underlying repair to the road, he said.
The project is anticipated to be completed this fall, at the latest, Moore said.
Supervisors also awarded road material contracts for the year, Walker said.
The township awarded two contracts to Heidelberg Materials Northeast: a roughly $8,800 contract for 360 tons of type 2A limestone and roughly $8,700 for 300 tons of No. 3 limestone.
Supervisors also awarded an $8,700 contract to Ligonier Stone & Lime Co. for 300 tons of anti-skid; $625 to Glassmere Fuel for 5,000 gallons of gasoline and $500 to Glassmere for diesel fuel.
All were the lowest responsible bids.
