Kiski Township man accused of beating woman as she held her child

Allegheny Township police charged a Kiski Township man with assaulting a woman while she held a child and was pregnant.

Nathaniel Dean Beer, 22, of Kiski Township is charged with aggravated assault, strangulation and endangering the welfare of children, which included the victim’s child and an her unborn child.

He is being held at the Westmoreland County Jail Prison in lieu of $50,000 bond, according to court records.

A resident in the Sandalwood Apartments in Allegheny Township contacted township police on Sept. 21, telling them he saw the assault through an apartment window.

Police found Beer with scratch marks on both side of his back and a woman bleeding from her mouth and chin with abrasions on the side of her face.

The victim told police Beer allegedly woke up in a bad mood and started to kick her, then took a shower.

When Beer exited the shower, he allegedly choked, punched and slapped the victim in the face multiple times while she was holding her child.

His preliminary hearing on Tuesday was continued to Oct. 6 before District Judge Cheryl Peck-Yakopec.

Beer could not be reached for comment.
