Lower Burrell brought out its road sweeper recently to clean up small rocks inadvertently spread across many of the city’s streets during last week’s snowfall.

“It was mixed in with the salt and when the salt crews loaded their vehicles, they could not see the rocks in the mix,” said Councilman Robert Hamilton.

No one had reported any problems or damage to the city, according to Hamilton. Anyone who did have issues should contact the city, he said.

The salt supply with the rocks, most of them about the size of nickels, is used up and Hamilton said he doesn’t expect to have a repeat episode.

The city is trying to recoup its cost for the salt with the rocks since it is not what the city ordered, according to Hamilton.
