Given the increase of food trucks and people soliciting in the city, Lower Burrell council is in the process of updating its solicitation permit ordinance.
The permits will be used for food trucks and people soliciting door-to-door.
But a sticky question with city council is when door-to-door solicitations are allowed.
If Councilman Joe Grillo has his way, it won’t be on Sundays.
“You want someone to bang on your door on Sundays selling windows?” Grillo asked council during its meeting Monday.
Other council members said that might be too much, instead suggesting the hours when solicitors can visit homes could be limited.
Council is still working to iron out the ordinance details.
The updated ordinance will require solicitors to register with the city and provide photos of themselves for the city to issue a vendor identification card, according to City Administrator Amy Rockwell.
Nonprofit workers and volunteers, such as the Girl Scouts, will be exempt from the solicitation permit ordinance.
