A Lower Burrell woman this week pleaded guilty in federal court for attempting to deal roughly 47 grams of a fentanyl-tramadol mixture, prosecutors said.

Amber Doller-Smith, 33, pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute the drugs, both of which are painkillers, U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady said.

Doller-Smith was caught with the illicit drugs by officers from the Lower Burrell and New Kensington police departments on Sept. 13, 2018, Brady said.

Officers pulled over Doller-Smith for driving recklessly and erratically, and said they smelled an odor of burnt marijuana emanating from her SUV.

A K-9 officer brought to the scene alerted officers to a purse that was on the front seat. Inside the purse were a number of pills and a bank card with Doller-Smith’s name, Brady said.

After seeing what was inside the purse, officers felt a search of Doller-Smith was warranted, and asked a female officer from a neighboring jurisdiction to come search Doller-Smith. As they were waiting for the female officer, Doller-Smith admitted to police that she had heroin concealed in her bra, Brady said.

Doller-Smith gave the female officer the drugs when she got to the scene, Brady said. A laboratory analysis of the fentanyl-tramadol mixture revealed it had a net weight of 46.53 grams.

Doller-Smith’s sentencing has been set for for June 9.
