A man wanted for warrants in Allegheny and Armstrong counties was arrested by Harrison police Tuesday night after fleeing from officers and trying to ditch a stolen gun and drugs, according to authorities.
Warren Paul “Boo” Greenleaf Jr., 39, of College Avenue, Mt. Pleasant, was charged with two counts of possession of drugs with the intent to deliver, receiving stolen property and fleeing from police. All are felonies.
He also was charged with four counts of misdemeanor drug possession and counts of illegal possession of a firearm and tampering with evidence.
He was still awaiting preliminary arraignment on the charges Wednesday, court records show.
Greenleaf was wanted on two felony warrants out of Allegheny and Armstrong counties on multiple drug and firearm charges. He was out on bail when he was arrested, Harrison police Chief Brian Turak said in a news release.
Greenleaf is not allowed to possess a gun because he has three previous felony convictions: drug delivery in 2003 and 2004, and illegal possession of a firearm in 2012, court records show.
Last November , Greenleaf was ordered to stand trial for felony and misdemeanor drug charges filed by Pittsburgh police but did not appear in Allegheny County Court for his formal arraignment Jan. 27, according to court records.
Turak said officers from Harrison, Tarentum and New Kensington, as well as agents with the state Attorney General’s Office and the Westmoreland County Drug Task Force, were watching Greenleaf Tuesday when he and two other men got into a maroon Chrysler 300 parked near the intersection of Spruce and Center streets shortly after 8 p.m. and drove off.
Officers and agents tried to pull Greenleaf over but he sped away, police said. The car became disabled when Greenleaf tried to drive through a vacant lot on Spruce Street.
Police say Greenleaf fled on foot. He was chased by officers and New Kensington’s police dog and taken into custody along Pine Street.
The two other men, whose names were not released by police, also were taken into custody.
While being chased, Greenleaf tossed a loaded pistol that was reported stolen in September, police said.
He also tried to discard a cellphone and a “chest pack” filled with “a large amount” of cocaine and marijuana, investigators said.
Turak said police also searched homes on Walnut and Garfield streets after Greenleaf was arrested. They confiscated narcotic packaging material, ammunition and marijuana.
In May 2022, Greenleaf was arrested in North Buffalo after a state trooper accused him of having cocaine, marijuana, ecstasy and a loaded pistol in his vehicle during a traffic stop for tinted windows and an expired inspection sticker.
He was charged with four felony counts of possession of drugs with the intent to deliver, and a felony count of illegal possession of a firearm along with DUI, drug possession and three traffic violations.
