A 20-year-old Plum man who died in a motorcycle crash Saturday in Lower Burrell has been identified.

Westmoreland County Coroner Kenneth Bacha said Sunday the man’s name is Adam J. Garvin. He was driving a 2015 Yamaha motorcycle, going east on Route 366, when a 2007 Ford Fusion pulled out of an access road to cross over the eastbound lanes of Route 366.

According to Bacha, at 12:55 p.m., Garvin’s motorcycle collided with the driver’s side of the car and he was thrown from the motorcycle. Deputy Coroner Steven Grabiak pronounced Garvin dead at the scene.

Garvin was wearing a helmet, Grabiak said.

The cause of death has not been determined. An autopsy is scheduled to be performed Monday by Dr. Cyril Wecht and Pathology Associates.

The crash scene was along Lower Burrell’s border with New Kensington, just up Greensburg Road from an intersection that’s commonly called the Parnassus Triangle. The roadway was shut down for more than an hour after the crash, according to area fire officials.

Lower Burrell Police also are investigating, according to a 911 dispatch supervisor.

Burket-Truby Funeral Home of Oakmont is handling arrangements.

No further information was available, according to the Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office.
