New Kensington and Arnold police departments and first responders from New Kensington, Arnold and Lower Burrell stage a mock car crash Friday morning for Valley High School junior and senior students. The pre-prom demonstration was to remind young adults to act responsibly while driving. Valley High’s prom is scheduled for April 26. Students portrayed crash victims for the demonstration.

A mock crash Friday morning outside Valley High School in New Kensington was meant to teach students about the dangers of distracted driving.

The district staged the crash for juniors and seniors with New Kensington police and several emergency service providers.

A Life Flight helicopter was among the emergency vehicles participating in the program in the school’s parking lot.

The event comes a week ahead of the Valley High School prom, which will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. April 26 at Veltre’s Event Center in Plum.
