More bridge work to restrict Logans Ferry Road traffic

Bridge work will again restrict traffic on Logans Ferry Road in Plum, near New Kensington.
In 2017, the two-lane road was closed and traffic detoured for almost three months while a bridge over a defunct railroad was removed and filled in near Entrance Drive.
This year, traffic in the same area will be reduced to a single, alternating lane while the bridge over Puckety Creek at the Plum-Lower Burrell line is replaced, according to PennDOT.
Signs on Logans Ferry at the bridge announce that road work will begin on Monday.
PennDOT spokesman Steve Cowan said work will initially be done at night from Monday through Thursday.
Daylight work is expected between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 24 and June 25. Traffic will be restricted to a single, alternating lane controlled by a temporary traffic signal starting June 26.
The $1.09 million project also includes guardrail upgrades, sidewalk and barrier repairs and pavement marking work.
The project is expected to be finished in early November, according to PennDOT.
About 12,000 vehicles travel on Logans Ferry Road each day, according to PennDOT.
