Movies in the Park returns Saturday in Plum

Plum’s Movies in the Park returns this weekend as more recreation events become available with Allegheny County in the green phase of covid-19 recovery.
Most of Southwestern Pennsylvania recently moved to the third part of the state’s economic reopening plan, allowing for more businesses to resume operations and more people to gather during the covid-19 pandemic.
Borough officials want to use that opportunity to provide residents some entertainment.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, such as social distancing, will be encouraged at Larry Mills Park Saturday night when the borough presents “The Secret Life of Pets 2,” a 3D animated comedy by Illumination.
“I think people are starving for getting out and being entertained,” said Vince Lagrotteria, BoroTV technical producer. “As long as we can do it with safe distancing and being smart with how everybody sets up their blankets (and chairs), I think we can have a successful evening out for the family that the public will appreciate.”
Movie attendees can start arriving to the park off Fontana Drive around 7 p.m. with the movie starting at dusk. Admission is free.
Free popcorn will be provided. However, there will be no concessions or pre-movie games due to covid-19 concerns.
People can also use some nearby parking spaces to watch the film if they do not want to be in general seating.
Movies in the Park is expected to continue in July and August. Dates and movies are to be determined.
More information about Plum recreational opportunities will be posted at plumboro.com.
