A man who jumped to his death from the Tarentum Bridge on Tuesday has been identified.

The victim was Thomas Peter Link, 68, of New Kensington, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Rescuers reported reaching Link within a few minutes, but they needed assistance removing him from the river, which was still swollen from recent heavy rains.

Eureka Fire Rescue EMS pulled Link to a boat launch beneath the bridge with the assistance of a New Kensington Fire Department river rescue crew.
