Deputies arrest man in New Kensington wanted by Allegheny County sheriff since January on multiple warrants
A Pittsburgh man wanted by the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office since January on multiple arrest warrants was taken into custody Tuesday after deputies found him hiding in the bathroom of a New Kensington home.
Pittsburgh police charged Tre DeVaugn Wingate, 31, on Jan. 13 with felony counts of aggravated assault, discharging a firearm, burglary, criminal trespass and carrying a firearm without a license along with counts of reckless endangerment, theft and harassment.
Allegheny County Judge Elliot Howsie issued a warrant for Wingate’s arrest in connection with the charges.
A bench warrant also was issued in March for Wingate’s arrest after he failed to appear in Family Division court, according to county Sheriff Kevin Kraus.
Detectives with the sheriff’s department learned this week that Wingate was in the New Kensington area. They coordinated with local police so deputies could take him into custody, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.
Wingate was found hiding inside a locked bathroom at a home along Victoria Avenue and was arrested without incident. He was taken to Allegheny County Jail to be detained.
