A ramp leading to the Highland Park Bridge in O’Hara did not sustain any damage after a vehicle caught fire along Route 28 Monday night, officials said.

Crews responded to the northbound lanes of Route 28 near the exit leading to the bridge around 8:30 p.m., according to a tweet from Allegheny County.

Steve Cowan, a PennDOT spokesman, said crews inspected the ramp leading to the Highland Park Bridge but did not find any damage to the structure.

Northbound lanes of Route 28 were closed between the exit for Route 8 North and the exit for the Highland Park bridge, according to PennDOT’s Twitter. The closure caused northbound traffic to be halted for hours.

The scene was cleared shortly before 10:30 p.m.

An Allegheny 911 supervisor said nobody was taken to the hospital from the scene.
