The Harvest Fair at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church — which brings in about $100,000 for charity each fall — wouldn’t open its doors without volunteers like Matt Scott.

Scott and a slew of others have prepped, cleaned, sorted and baked for months in anticipation of the 69th Harvest Fair on Sept. 6-7.

“Matt has helped everywhere — from clothing, furniture, books, artwork and now baked goods,” said Carol Huff, church member and volunteer. “He has been so dedicated. We are lucky to have him.”

The large-scale shopping bonanza is a much-anticipated event. It draws hundreds of shoppers from across the region and has brought in more than $2 million to benefit food banks, women’s shelters, after-school enrichment programs and more.

On Sept. 1, furniture, jewelry, sporting goods and more will be moved into various rooms in the church for people to peruse the three-story thrift store by category.

Huff said there will be a large selection of women’s and children’s clothes, a separate boutique area and room with men’s wear.

“There are quality home decorations, kitchenware, tools, jewelry, crystal, books, gardening, lamps, linens and toys,” she said.

Food and homemade baked goods will be available on both days. On Saturday, Sept. 7, shoppers can enjoy mushroom sandwiches and barbecued chicken — which is a consistent sell-out.

The fair will open at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, with an admission cost of $5, plus a shelf-stable donation to the food bank.

Shoppers can visit free from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Donations are welcome.

“The fair has an outstanding selection this year of quality items,” Huff said. “There are amazing finds at great prices.”

The church is at 384 Fox Chapel Road.
