Peck Yakopec, Zellers on track to face off again in November for district judge

The primary contest between District Judge Cheryl Peck Yakopec and challenger Leslie Uncapher Zellers appeared to be moving on to the November general election.

With 100% of precincts reporting Tuesday night, Peck Yakopec was leading for the Democratic nomination, with 60% of the vote, according to unofficial results.

Zellers claimed a narrower win for the Republican nomination with 51% of the vote, according to unofficial results.

Peck Yakopec, 70, of Lower Burrell has held the seat for more than 25 years. Zellers, 56, of Allegheny Township is an attorney.

The office Peck Yakopec now holds covers Allegheny Township, East Vandergrift, Vandergrift, Hyde Park, Lower Burrell, Upper Burrell, Oklahoma Borough and West Leechburg.
