PennDOT works to fix faulty temporary traffic signal in Frazer

A faulty temporary traffic signal at the Butler-Logan Road bridge in Frazer caused excessive wait times for motorists over the weekend, PennDOT said Monday.
Some drivers took to social media to report wait times of up to 10 minutes at the signal at Butler-Logan and Murray Hill roads. Signals have been set up on both sides of the bridge because of a lane closure related to work being done on the bridge.
PennDOT spokesman Steve Cowan said crews will be working to fix the problem this week.
Frazer police told motorists in a Facebook post to avoid delays by taking alternate routes, including exiting the Pittsburgh Mills mall to Route 28 instead of via Division Road. A message left for police Chief Terry Kuhns wasn’t immediately returned.
The traffic disruption stems from a major overhaul of the bridge, which crosses over Route 28 in Frazer. The bridge deck and bearings will be replaced, and the entire bridge will be repainted as part of the project.
The bridge, which is used by about 1,800 vehicles each day, is a commonly used access for drivers coming from the Springdale area on Butler-Logan Road and Springdale Hollow Road to the Pittsburgh Mills mall entrance servicing Dick’s Sporting Goods and the Cinemark movie theater.
