Plum Creek Presbyterian Pastor Carolyn Leah speaks to a Plum High School class during the school’s “Career Day” on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025. About 160 professionals from a broad array of careers participated.

Plum High School students were introduced to new careers or able to learn more about ones they are already interested in Thursday during their school’s annual Career Day.

About 160 speakers from the community were expected. They were split up among 45 rooms, with three to five presenters each, with a common theme so students would have an opportunity to see different career paths in which they may be interested.

With two sessions, students were able to see six to 10 careers, selecting similar ones or those that are totally different. Businesses and industries represented included trades, counseling, animals, real estate, medical, science, art, technology, math, sales, marketing, sports, police, fire, medical, and the military.

Members of Plum’s Chamber of Commerce helped run the morning event. This is the third year that the chamber has worked with the district to stage it.
