The Plum School Board has renewed contracts for two district administrators.
The new contracts for Assistant Superintendent Denise Sedlacek and Ryan Manzer, chief financial officer, began Tuesday.
Sedlacek’s three-year agreement runs through June 30, 2026, while Manzer’s five-year agreement is through June 30, 2028.
Each of their salaries were set at $150,000 and retroactive to July 1, according to their contracts.
They will be eligible for annual increases equal to those given to certified administrative employees under the district’s administrator compensation plan. The three-year agreement, running from July 1 to June 30, 2026, provides 4% increases for those whose performance is rated distinguished and 3% for those rated proficient.
One of Plum’s two assistant superintendents, Sedlacek’s focus is secondary grades and human resources. She came to Plum from Baldwin-Whitehall, where she also was an assistant superintendent, in September 2019. She started at $133,250, and her salary for the 2023-24 school year before the renewal was about $147,083.
Sedlacek, who started her education career in 1984 and has been in administration since 1991, said her contract is shorter because she plans to retire at its conclusion. A Lower Burrell native, she now lives in Allegheny Township.
“I am at the sunset of my career and looking forward to retiring,” she said. “I’m thrilled to be part of the Mustang family, and I could think of no better place to end my career in education than here.”
Manzer came to Plum from Freeport Area, where he was business manager, in June 2021. He started at $135,000 and, before the renewal, his salary for the 2023-24 school year was $146,579.
“I am honored to continue serving the Plum Borough School District community for the next five years,” Manzer said. “I look forward to continuing our work to uphold and enhance the district’s financial stability and operational excellence to support the educational programs we offer to our students.”
School board President Mike Devine said the district is happy to keep both of them.
“With all the changes we’ve had over the last few months, we wanted to make sure there was stability in the district keeping the team we have in place,” he said.
Recent changes at the school district have included hiring a new superintendent, Rick Walsh; assistant superintendent, Ashley Boyers, overseeing elementary grades and safety and security; high school principal, Patrick Baughman; assistant high school principal, Stephen Sereda; and a new middle school principal, Adam Szarmach.
