A Kiski Township couple was arrested Friday after their infant child was found wandering alone in North Apollo, according to a news release from the Kiski Township Police Department.
Joseph Hazlett, 31, and Brandy Teeple, 27, were charged with endangering the welfare of a child, the release said.
Township police said the couple’s 1-year-old girl was located unharmed and returned to her residence.
Hazlett, the child’s father, was found asleep in the home, police said.
Police found horrible living conditions, including animal feces throughout the house, rotting food on the floor and an insect infestation, according to the release.
The parents were arraigned before District Judge Gary DeComo. Their preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 13 before District Judge James Andring.
The child was taken into protective custody, police said.
Police said Teeple was released on her own recognizance while Hazlett was being held in the Armstrong County Jail on $50,000 cash bond.
Police said Hazlett was previously arrested for endangering the welfare of the same child in connection with a May 18 incident at the home.
Police say when he was taken into custody on domestic-related offenses against the mother, he attempted to jump from a window while holding the child.
