A McKeesport man faces 16 criminal charges after being accused of stabbing one woman and assaulting another over the weekend in Arnold.

Arnold police charged Maurice Tymeer Johnson, 26, with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, burglary, reckless endangerment, simple assault and flight to avoid apprehension, among other charges.

Early Saturday morning, Arnold police were dispatched to the 1700 block of Third Avenue for a domestic disturbance, according to a criminal complaint filed in the case.

Inside the home, police found two women, one of whom had been stabbed. Officers reported she was awake and alert, and had minor bleeding controlled with a towel and self-pressure.

She told first responders she felt part of the knife still inside her chest, according to the complaint. She identified Johnson as the person who had stabbed her, police said.

EMS crews took her to a hospital where she underwent emergency surgery, the complaint said.

Another woman inside the home told police she was hit several times, and had minor bruising and scratches.

During questioning, she told police that she and the woman who was stabbed were in the bathroom together when Johnson burst through the door and assaulted them, the complaint said.

As she called 911, Johnson ran away, she told police. He was taken into custody after a short pursuit, according to the complaint.

Johnson told police he had gone out to bars in Arnold and New Kensington, where the woman and her family and friends were partying. They went back to the Third Avenue home at around 3 a.m., and Johnson said he could hear people talking from inside the house when he was on the front porch, the complaint said.

Johnson then went across the street, where, he said, he could see three women doing things inside the house that made him mad, the complaint said. He said that he walked into the home, told a woman, “If this is what you want, then so be it,” and left.

When officers detained Johnson, he provided police with a different name, the complaint said, but New Kensington police were able to confirm Johnson’s identity and took him into custody.

He said he ran from officers because he had warrants and that he’s “not comfortable around police.” He said he gave the fake name because “they wouldn’t tell me what was going on, so I wasn’t going to give them what they wanted.”

Johnson was denied bail and is being held in the Westmoreland County jail. He faces a preliminary hearing April 24 before District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr.
