A New Kensington couple is accused of having two young children in a home where, police say, they stored the crack cocaine they cooked in their kitchen next to a Yoo-hoo drink box.

Mark Sibley, 42, and Nikki Marie Mcaninch, 30, both of the 600 block of Linden Avenue, were charged Monday with felony counts of endangering the welfare of children and possession of drugs with the intent to deliver, along with three other drug-related counts.

Mcaninch was released from custody on a $25,000 unsecured bond. Sibley was being detained in the Westmoreland County jail in lieu of a $50,000 cash bond, according to court records.

They face separate preliminary hearings May 11 before District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr. Investigators did not specify the ages of the children living in the home.

The pair was arrested Monday when New Kensington police and agents from the state Attorney General’s Office and the Westmoreland County Drug Task Force raided their home shortly before 11 a.m., according to a criminal complaint.

Officers broke through the front door after nobody answered their knocks announcing they had a warrant to search the home, the complaint said.

Sibley and Mcaninch were detained while police searched the home.

Three bags of marijuana were confiscated from the living room, where they were found on a table, a TV stand and a photo stand that were within reach of the children, police said. A gum wrapper with 0.5 grams of crack also was found on the living room table, according to police.

Police said the couple were manufacturing crack cocaine in the kitchen, where a mixing cup containing powdered cocaine residue and 10.5 grams of crack were stored on top of a microwave behind a Yoo-hoo drink box.

Investigators said they also found a 9.4-gram bag of crack cocaine and a digital scale in a purse in the kitchen.

The drugs came back positive for cocaine when they were field-tested, police said.

A cellphone with a number used during the investigation also was confiscated from the home.
