A New Kensington man is accused of having body armor in his apartment along with a semi-automatic pistol loaded with armor-piercing ammo, police said, and drugs that were within easy reach of his 18-month-old child.

Cameron Robert Blystone, 22, of the 700 block of Carl Avenue was charged with possession of unlawful body armor, three counts of endangering the welfare of children and four counts of possession of drugs with the intent to deliver. Are all felonies. He also was charged with 11 misdemeanor drug charges and a count of possession of an instrument of crime.

Blystone was being detained in the Westmoreland County jail in lieu of a $40,000 cash bond. A preliminary hearing before District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr. is scheduled for Aug. 3, according to court records.

Police wrote in a criminal complaint charging Blystone that a team of officers and detectives from the New Kensington and Lower Burrell police departments broke through his front door about 8 a.m. July 7, while executing a search warrant, after he failed to answer their knocks.

Police said they found an 18-month-old girl sleeping in a crib in the bedroom. The child was released to her mother, who was found in another apartment in the building, the complaint said.

Blystone questioned police about the raid, saying: “I just sold a zip (ounce) of weed, and all this? There is people selling heroin out there.”

Police said Blystone had a Glock handgun with a bullet in the chamber sitting on top of a snake enclosure and an AR-15-style, short-barreled rifle that was loaded with green-tip penetrating ammunition on a shelf.

Officers also confiscated a set of body armor labeled “Killa Cam” along with a high-capacity magazine for an AR-15 loaded with green-tip ammo, the complaint said.

Two additional magazines for an AR-15, that hold 30 rounds each, also were found along with a box of ammunition for the weapon. Police said they also found a box of ammunition for a .45-caliber handgun. One of the 30-round magazines was loaded with the armor-piercing bullets, the complaint said.

Police said they found other evidence of drug dealing in the home, including five jars with THC wax inside, loose marijuana, five boxes of cannabis vape cartridges, a digital scale, three bongs, packaging supplies and other drug paraphernalia.

Police began investigating Blystone in March and bought THC wax from him twice before raiding his apartment, the complaint said.
