It’s been over a month now and state police said they still have seen no sign of Anthony Dwayne Smith Jr.

Smith, 28, from the Pittsburgh area, fled from state troopers after they pulled him over on Route 28 in Harmar on Feb. 26. They said they haven’t seen him since.

At about 5:30 p.m. that day, police said they spotted Smith’s vehicle, a tan Honda Pilot with Pennsylvania registration LKP5009, not displaying the proper temporary tags. Smith tossed a bag containing a white substance from the car, according to police. Troopers pulled over the car.

When asked to show his driver’s license, state police said, Smith turned on his car and fled, leading police on a high-speed chase through Harmar and Springdale. At one point, he turned around and struck the right front fender of a police cruiser and then hit a parked, unattended vehicle on Freeport Road in Harmar, police said.

“There’s been word on the street that he was going to turn himself in, but, as far as we know, he hasn’t yet. If he does we’ll be notified,” said Trooper Anthony Vaccaro of the Kittanning Barracks Criminal Investigations Unit. Vaccaro said there is still an active warrant for Smith.

Police described Smith as 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighing about 240 pounds with a black beard and mustache. Police said they suspect he could be in the Springdale, McKeesport or Penn Hills areas. There could be damage to the front fender of the Honda Pilot, state police said.

Smith is considered to be dangerous and anyone who has information or knows his whereabouts is asked to contact Vaccaro at 724-543-2011.
