A vigil will be held Wednesday night in Harrison for Roxanne Bonnoni, the 11-year-old girl who was killed by a vehicle Aug. 20 near her home along North Canal Street.

Amber Bonnoni, Roxanne’s mother, said people can attend to honor her daughter on what would have been her 12th birthday.

“I miss my beautiful princess,” Bonnoni said in an email to TribLive. “The day my child died, I became somebody new, a totally different person. I cry more than ever and break down quite a lot. My heart hurts more and more each day.”

The candlelight event will begin at 8:30 p.m. and include lanterns released into the sky.

It will be in the field at North Canal and Kuntz streets, just across from Bonnoni’s house, where she was struck by a Jeep Patriot while walking home.

An online fundraiser has also been set up to support the family.

Allegheny County Police have not released the name of the driver, who remained at the scene after the crash.

County police led the investigation but said their report and evidence was turned over to the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office in September.

No charges have been filed.

Emma Federkeil, communications director for county District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala Jr., did not respond to requests for comment.

Bonnoni said her pain never stops. Her daughter was set to start sixth grade at the Western PA School for the Deaf.

“I will never forgive the man for taking my smart, caring beautiful Roxanne Alexis away from us,” Bonnoni said.
