Tarentum officials are working to resolve an arcing transformer.

The malfunctioning equipment is near Third and Bridge streets. The borough’s Redcat Power staff are on the scene.

“We want to assure all residents that we are fully aware of this matter and are actively responding to resolve it,” Manage Dwight Boddorf said.

Residents are asked to avoid the area as the arcing can cause safety risks. There is a chance of power disruptions.

Anyone who experiences a power outage is asked to report it to the borough.

Social media users are posting about a loud bang and lights flickering in the area.

“Our staff is working diligently to minimize disruptions and restore normal operations as swiftly as possible,” Boddorf said.
