Residents at Golden Towers in Tarentum returned to their apartments shortly before 6 a.m., following a three-alarm fire reported early Thursday.
Residents were partially evacuated following the fire, which was reported shortly before 4 a.m. at the apartment complex on the 200 block of Allegheny Street.
“It took about 40 minutes to get it under control,” said Eureka Fire-Rescue EMS Deputy Chief Brad James. “The fire was contained to the apartment where it started, and we were mostly trying to manage the smoke.”
James said no residents needed to be taken to the hospital.
“We were able to have people shelter in place as best as we could and did a partial evacuation,” he said. “There were at least one or two residents displaced because of the fire, but our main enemy was the smoke.”
James said the fire may have started with a couch inside one of the apartments. He said the investigation will be handled by the Allegheny County Fire Marshal Office.
