State police accused a Parks Township man who gathered with family members to make funeral arrangements for his father of firing a shot at a woman in the group after they began arguing.

Jeffrey Lynn Walker, 38, of the 1200 block of Ridge Road was charged Oct. 2 with a felony count of aggravated assault along with counts of simple assault, reckless endangerment and making terroristic threats.

He was being detained in the Armstrong County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 cash bond to await a preliminary hearing before District Judge James Andring on Dec. 14, according to court records.

A state trooper wrote in a criminal complaint that he responded at 10 p.m. Sept. 30 to a report of a domestic dispute at the home of Walker’s mother, who lives across the street.

Investigators said Walker and other family members were planning a funeral for his recently deceased father when he and a woman not related to him began arguing, the complaint said.

Walker and the woman continued arguing when they went outside, police said.

Walker is accused of pulling a .45-caliber handgun from his waistband and firing a shot toward the woman and then telling her: “Next time, I won’t miss,” the complaint said.

Walker then ran toward the woman and chased her until she was off the property, police said.
